Minerva McGonagall had been detained after class assigning detention to a pair of miscreants set on disrupting her classroom by letting loose the mice that had been collected.

"Miss Lovegood. I assume you're here to see me? Please come up." The gargoyle moved aside. "What can I do for you?"

"Yes! Thank you, I wasn't sure if you'd be here or in the Transfiguration classroom."

Luna followed her up the stairs to the office and looked around. It was a fascinating office, and she waved to the different headmasters happily. "I had an idea regarding the old DA club of the last few years," she began, feeling comfortably prepared to present her idea, but wanting to wait until the Professor indicated her to go on, or perhaps invite her to sit.

"Normally, you would find me already here by this time." The headmistress opened the door to her office.

Minerva smiled as the young lady waved to the portraits. Luna Lovegood was one of the most unusual students she had. Boundless optimism and some very interesting talents. Minerva McGonagall hoped she found herself a good niche. In the right job, she could be quite an asset. "Please take a seat, Miss Lovegood." Minerva sat herself, "I thought you had dropped Defense this year?"

Luna sat down in one of the chairs across from the professor. "I did drop Defense this year, that's nice of you to remember a detail like that. But wouldn't that give me even more reason to want to study it? If I'm not in the class, I need to get my practice somewhere."

"But either way, that's not quite my idea," she waited for a beat, and when Professor McGonagall didn't say anything, she continued. "The DA is and was very important to me, and over the summer I had the idea to reinstate it when I came back. I thought that more students might be interested now that joining wouldn't be a punishable offense, and thought that maybe we'd get members from all houses. Then I thought that perhaps, a club with an emphasis on students from all the houses helping each other with their studies- not just in defense- would be a good way to bring unity to the students."

She took a breath. She wasn't quite done explaining her idea, but if Professor McGonagall didn't like it so far, she wouldn't have to continue.
