Parvati had sort of got used to working on her own at the revision group the last couple of weeks. Somehow, she studied better there than she did at home in spite of not really talking to anyone. Perhaps it was easier to be distracted in her room, when no one else was watching. Not that people watched her or anything. But it was a good sort of peer pressure with the other NEWT students. She had a strong desire to prove herself or something ( ... )

"Did you ask for a clean glass?" Neville quipped for Aberforth's benefit as he stood next to Parvati at the bar. Ab liked having things to grumble about. Neville was glad he'd already come in to see the old man and make amends for not stopping by sooner. Neville would have felt odd showing up with a group his first time back. "I'll take a butterbeer, Ab. Thanks."

"Yes, I did," Parvati said, laughing softly. She suposed she was taking her life in her hands, ordering something not bottled, but as his food had kept them alive for all those weeks, she figured Aberforth had earned her trust.

"How are you, Neville?" she said, looking him over and deciding he looked tired.

Neville almost asked her why she asked and what did she hear, when he realized that would be a clear tell that something was wrong. He decided it was best to paste on a smile.

"I'm good, Parvati. How are you?" He'd not had a chance to talk to her during the study group. He saw Lisa Turpin come up behind Parvati and smiled, "Hey, Lisa!"

Lisa had opted to pop home to change after revision group before meeting the others, so there were already quite a few people here. Upon entering the bar she saw Parvati chatting with Neville and decided to join them before ordering a drink. Neville spotted her she approached, and greeted her first.

"Hey Neville. Good to see you. Did I miss anything exciting?" she asked them both.

Parvati had been about to answer when Lisa arrived and she grinned. They were spending nearly as much time together as she and Lavender were, and it really helped her to not feel left out.

"Nothing much," She said. "Though I am taking my life in my hands ordering a drink here." She raised her glass to both of them. "Here's to living dangerously, yeah?"

"Why don't you two grab a table and I'll wait for yours, Lisa. What are having?" Neville blushed, "I mean if you don't mind if I join you. If you do, it's okay. Just say so. There's lots of... rambling. Yeah. I'll... um... just stop now." He was such an idiot.

Neville was adorable, as usual. There were several people from school that Lisa was looking forward to getting to know better, now that they were not so clearly divided among the hosues. And Neville was one of them. he just seemed like such a great bloke, even without the stories of heroics from last year. Although she'd like to learn more about what she missed, to be sure.

"I think just a butterbeer tonight, Neville, thanks. Too early in a week of hectic schedules to drink anything stronger."

Lisa turned her attention to Parvati. "So shall we go find a table, then?"

Sounds like a plan," Parvati said, smiling encouragingly at Neville before they walked away.

She laughed softly and looked over at Lisa conspiratorially. "isn't he just the sweetest thing? Badass, too, of course, but the cool thing is that he hasn't let it go to his head, from what I can tell."

Lisa nodded as they headed toward a table. "I've always liked Neville. I admit to being surprised at the stories when I returned, but in some ways they're not surprising at all. Strength of character and all that."

They took a seat at a table in the corner. "He's dating Ginny Weasley, I heard. That right?"

Parvati sipped her drink as they watched, shuddering a bit at the first taste. Aberforth's brew was a fair bit stronger than Rosmerta's, but it wasn't bad. It was good to hear Lisa praise Neville, good to know that the other houses had appreciated him too.

"Yes, it is. She gets all the good ones. I'd hate her is she wasn't so damn nice to me." Parvati sighed dramatically and then added a wink, just in case Lisa was going to take her seriously.

Parvati winced at the taste of her brew, and Lisa was glad she'd asked Neville to get her a butterbeer.

Lisa laughed. "What other 'good ones' has she gotten? I've missed everything, it seems."

Parvati held up her hand and ticked of her fingers as she spoke. "Oh, there was Harry, and Dean, and before that Michael Corner. And now Neville. Hard not to resent her when she's had four boyfriends and I've had none. But perhaps that has more to do with me than her. Anyway, she is nice. It's a nice family, actually."
