Charlie was dressed rather unformally, but that didn't stop him straightening up his shirt before his mother gave him a fond kiss. He smiled at her. "Won't be long."

Clothes finally sorted, he checked his watch to make sure he was neither too early nor too late, furtively stole a summer lily from Fleur's beautifully kept garden, and apparated straight to Andromeda's front door to fetch her and Teddy.

This would be Teddy's first trip to the sea. While Andy disliked swimming in the ocean, she did enjoy listening to the waves and enjoying the sun. It had been ages since she'd been, not since she and Ted went on holiday in France a few years ago, so she was looking forward to the picnic.

After she put a fresh nappy on Teddy, she got him dressed and then worried about herself. It didn't take long to put on her bathing suit, after all, and her cover-up was even easier. She brushed her hair, slipped on her sandals, and packed a bag with extra clothes for Teddy, in case he splashed in the water, and a pair of linen trousers for herself if it got cooler later.

She finished getting ready just minutes before she heard a knock on the door. "Are you ready to see the ocean, dear?" she asked Teddy, who simply laughed and kicked his foot towards her. She kissed his forehead and situated him in her arms before she went to open the door. "Good afternoon, Charles. Shall we go?"

"Flower," he said, and presented it to her. "You look...ah..."

Surprisingly womanly, was the answer.

It took a great effort to speak again after that. "May I take your bag?"

When she gave it to him, he drew his wand again, moving to the end of the path. He offered his arm towards her. "Hold on tight to Teddy," he warned, "Just in case my aim is off."

He waited just a moment and then tugged away, apparating back to Shell Cottage, and landing them a foot deep in seawater. "Oops...sorry about that," he apologised, and lifted up one of his feet. Wet boots, and wet jeans.

She took the flower and arched a brow when he said she looked and failed to complete the sentence. She frowned slightly and put the flower down before she handed him her bag. "Yes, you can. Thank you."

After she closed the door, she and Teddy followed him to the end of the path. She took his arm and held on to Teddy, waiting for the familiar pull of Apparation. They arrived in the water, and she quickly moved out of it.

"There's no need to apologize, Charles." She looked around and shifted Teddy. There were already people around, and it was a very pretty spot. Turning back to Charlie, she smiled. "I think finding a spot and sitting down would be best. You don't have to look after us, if you'd rather swim or frolic with other young people."

"Now why would I want to do that?" he asked, looking around. "Almost thirty now, you know. It's a travesty." He stepped out of the water and took off his boots, pouring the water out of them and rolling up his jeans, flushing as he straightened back up.

People were...severely underdressed.

"I think I ought to go make sure mum's got everything under control," he said, nervously. "And um...if you need anything, just call."

"Before you leave, could you hold Teddy while I get everything situated?" She didn't wait for an answer. Instead, she handed him Teddy and took the bag from him. She put down a blanket and dropped the bag before she pulled her cover-up over her head.

"There. That's better," she said, running her fingers through her hair as she slipped out of her shoes. She looked up at the sky and wished the sun was out, but it was warm, so she supposed that was better than nothing.

"Thank you for holding him, Charlie. I can take him now." She took Teddy and leaned over to put him down before she sat beside him. His hair was a vivid shade of turquoise and actually looked brighter than usual. She glanced up at Charlie and smiled. "If I need anything, I'll take care of it myself, but I appreciate the offer."

Charlie took the baby, surprised, and looked down at Teddy, waggling his eyebrows. He was distracted by movement, and when he looked up, blushed, and returned his gaze to the baby - trying to keep his eyes on him rather than look at Andromeda.

He was startled when her arm snaked out to take the baby back. He bit his lip and turned away.

"Y-yes. I'll speak to you later, Andy...Really ought to go...sorry...yes."

"Okay. Go help your mother, Charlie," she said, frowning slightly as he acted as if getting away from her and Teddy was his highest priority. She had assumed that the flower had been a peace offering after their owl exchange, but perhaps he was annoyed with her.

She sighed and looked back at Teddy after Charlie rushed away, watching him pat the blanket with his hand. "I think I see your godfather playing in the water with his friends. Maybe later we can ask him if he'd like to take you to get your feet wet. Gran doesn't like oceans, but Harry seems to enjoy them."
