Percy was glad he had expertly masked his disappointment about Penny forgetting his birthday because really - these things were not important. Not at all. Once you were an adult, birthdays ceased to have any relevance to...

"Hey, where are we going?" he protested as Penny grabbed hold of him. "I was just..."

But it didn't matter what he was 'just.' When Penny was on a mission, no one could stand in her way.

Penny reached deep into her pocket and pulled out the outragously gaudy scarf she had picked up in Prague a few years before and wrapped it around Percys eyes.

She guided him through the shop and out into the street in front of a blue door and pushed him up the stairs, careful to avoid tripping him up. Oops, mind that wall there, Perce

Finally she stopped at a door - a plain, slightly scarred looking door and removed the blindfold.

"Happy Birthday, Percy! I got you.... a door!" she said with a grin.

"It's a very nice door," Percy said, trying not to sound suspicious. He had told Penny he couldn't move out of the Burrow, even though he had been rather wistful about that decision ever since.

At Penny's insistent hand gestures, he turned the handle, and stepped into the living room.

A charm blared 'happy birthday' at him, and streamers fell from the ceiling. Percy stepped to one side and avoided a large fake ink blot which splashed on to the floor instead. "I see you bought up big at George's shop opening," he said dryly.

They were inside the flat now, and he could see that Penny had done a lot of work on the place, which was cleaner than he had ever imagined it could be, though it was still rather lacking in furniture. There was a big pile of throw cushions, which showed Penny's priorities.

Teetering on the top was a small green box. At Penny's grin, Percy stepped forward, and opened it.

Penny watched as Percy ripped into the box and she really hoped that he liked his present.
She'd stumbled across it in a small shop tucked in the corner of Diagon Alley and just knew when she saw it.

As he drew out the bookends she saw him give her a look that clearly said You are utterly crazy..

"Don't worry, its not a real fish but a magical one. He's adorable, friendly, ginger and likes books. Plus, look at him. Clearly plotting to take over the world. How could I resist?"

She bit her lip, really hoping for a positive reaction.
