Eloise cursed and sucked her finger into her mouth as the school owl gave her a nasty nip. The little bastards were cranky, probably all the construction going on, but she didn't have any other way to send her owls out. Maybe once she had moved out and had her expenses a bit better budgeted she could afford an owl of her own, as it was though, she preferred to wait. She'd probably be buying books for NEWT study too.
She'd reviewed the schedule for the NEWTs her lip caught between her teeth as she'd decided what to take. After consideration, she'd signed up for Charms, Divination, Astronomy, and Transfiguration. The last was a difficult decision. She'd gotten the owl, but only by the skin of her teeth, and it had never been her best subject. It had taken her some time to make up her mind about, but in the end, she'd decided she might as well try.
She sent the application off, along with an application for the Housing with Mr. Clark.
When that was done, she started the more pleasant prospect of owls to Neville and Anthony. She hadn't seen Neville since the diaster at the club.
Neville,
Toad playdate? The lake again? How about Saturday morning? Your turn to bring breakfast.

The second owl was a little more nerve wracking, but she sent it anyway.
Anthony,
Hope you don't mind me owling. Don't want your sisters to have too much fodder for teasing. I was wondering if maybe you'd like to do something on Saturday afternoon and then get something to eat? My chance to surprise you.
