She'd been staring at the candy for who knew how long without really seeing it. Instead she saw the solicior's card her mother tried to hide, too late. And she heard 'just trying to plan the future, what options I have."
Options. A cool word to describe the dissolution of a family.
She'd seen it coming, knew it would happen. Her mother was right in certain respects. Even now, there were those who had no room for non-magical people in their hearts and minds, not even for those born to non-magical parents but witches or wizards themselves. How could she realistically expect her mother to continue to live in a world that excluded her, sent her to prison no less?
She couldn't, but that didn't make it any easier to deal with. Nor did she know how she was going to balance being part of the Wizarding World and still keep her mother as an important part of her life.
"C'mon love, make your choice or move along."
Shaking herself from her reverie, she left the Droobles display, she didn't even like gum for pity's sake<./i>, and moved to find the chocolate. A area where there were no options available as far as she was concerned, at least in the choice between Milk or Dark Chocolate. Attempting to shake hersef from her funk she smiled at the people gathered around the counter.
