Date: 22 June, 1998 Characters: Percy Weasley, Molly Weasley Location: The Burrow Status: Private Summary: Molly inquires after Percy's first day of work. Completion: Incomplete
"Hello, Mum," said Percy as he came into the kitchen. He was surprised to see that she had laid supper out for him. "You didn't have to do that." He pecked his Mum on the cheek and sat down at the table.
It had been a long day, but on the whole he thought he was going to like working at Scrivenshaft's. Good to be doing something again - and it was rather entertaining to watch Penny's delight in the merchandise and customers.
Nothing like a Ravenclaw let loose in a quill shop...
"Nonsense, dear. I couldn't just let you come home after a long day of work to nothing." She patted his head affectionately and summoned a jug of pumpkin juice and a glass.
"Now, tell me everything about your first day." She beamed at him with motherly pride.
"Oh, it was fine," said Percy. "I've always been rather fond of that shop, and it's nice to be able to help Madam Scrivenshaft out. Not sure how long it will last - she won't need to employ us when -" if "- her family come back from hiding in the Muggle world. But it will do for now." He smiled a bit as he tasted the soup. "I suspect it might take an army of centaurs to drag Pen out of there now she's got her foot in the door, though."
Molly watched him as he ate his soup and talked. Percy was always happier when he had responsibility and a job to do, and she was glad he'd found that again. She just hoped it wouldn't be too temporary.
"You're welcome, Perce. Tuck in, tuck in. And how is Penelope? You know, I always liked her. You should have her come over for dinner." She really hoped that Percy would get back together with the girl. They'd have such lovely babies.
