Saying Farewell to Another Year )
Oh, Merlin.
Angelina's flat was the first one she ventured into and she grinned when one of the first people she saw was Dean, almost launching herself on him in a big hug. "Hello, handsome."
Reply
"Hey, beautiful," he countered, giving her a big squeeze before letting her go. "How have you been?"
Reply
"What about you? You look really well."
Reply
"I'm really well," Dean said. He couldn't help glancing back over his shoulder toward where Angelina was chatting with another party-goer. The answer would have been the same regardless of those developments, but it certainly didn't hurt. "It's really hard to complain when so many things are going right, you know?"
Then he remembered something else. "Have you talked to George lately?"
Reply
She bit her lip. "Uh, no, I haven't. I keep meaning to, but I haven't found the time." Her brow furrowed slightly. "Why, is something the matter?"
Reply
Dean smiled widely. "I should let him tell you about it, but I wanted you to know. Since it's, you know, you."
Reply
"Really? Oooh, sounds like I'll have to track him down at some point. Which I've been meaning to do, anyway, but now I have added motive."
She glanced around. "So where would a girl find a drink in a place like this." She gave him a smile. "Want to show me? And then you can tell me if there's anything new in the life of Dean or if you're still slaving over canvasses and washing brushes."
Reply
"Right this way, madam. And of course I'm still slaving over canvasses and washing brushes," he said, laughing as they moved toward where the drinks were, in Stephen's flat. "I've got twice as many projects now as I did six months ago. Loving every minute of it, though."
Reply
She followed him through to the other flat, glad to hear that he was doing well with his apprenticeship. "That's really great Dean. I hope you don't forget all about little old me when you're a famous artist one day." Lavender found a glass, reaching for a bottle.
Reply
Dean finished off his beer and tossed the bottle in the bin, figuring he might as well get another drink while he was here. "How is the man who stole you away from me, anyway? Got everything packed up yet?"
Reply
Lavender poured herself out a glass of champagne. "He's good. Gone to Australia to make some final arrangements but he'll be back later in the week before the final move." She wrinkled her nose. "I think I've got just about everything packed. A lot of it has already gone. It's so weird packing your whole life up into boxes."
Reply
Dean couldn't imagine packing everything up to move so far away. Hogsmeade had become home in so many ways, so it was hard to even picture leaving at all. "Weird imagining you not being here," he admitted. Realising this was probably an emotional topic, he added, "Nothing owls and a few portkeys a year can't fix though, yeah?"
Reply
She took a sip of the champagne, nodding. "It's weird to imagine not being here," she confessed. "But, yeah, owls and porktkeys and stuff. My Dad's getting married in a few months, so I'll definitely be back for that."
