He was taking her to the Italian Kitchen to celebrate )
Ron appeared just as she was putting in her earrings and Eloise grinned at him. "Hey."
Reply
"Wow." He grinned. "Happy birthday, gorgeous."
Crossing the room, he pulled her into a kiss. "I hope you're in the mood for Italian food tonight. Would you like your birthday present now or later?"
He'd shrunk the gift box, which contained a feminine, pale blue jumper, and tucked it inside his jacket.

She shrugged. "Doesn't matter. You pick." Eloise was excited to go to dinner, but she wasn't in a huge rush, either.

"All right, then, happy birthday." Pulling a small box from inside his jacket, Ron tapped it with his wand, which brought the box back to its full size. "Hope you like it." And that it's the right size.

"I've actually got a reservation," he explained, "so we'd best get moving."
With no objections from Eloise, he led her into the Floo and they found themselves at the Italian Kitchen a few moments later. After a greeting from a hostess, Ron and Eloise were seated at a table near the front windows of the restaurant and given menus.
"See anything you like on the menu?" he asked once they'd had a chance to skim the offerings.
Reply
"There's always something I like here. Maybe I'll have the stuffed shells tonight. I'm in the mood for something smothered with cheese." She grinned and nudged his foot under the table.

"How was Christmas? Did you get to see all your family?"

He cocked his head in Eloise's direction. "Did you see your family for Christmas? Do they celebrate it at all? What about Boxing Day?" He realised there was still plenty he didn't know about the Midgens.
Reply
"Yeah. My dad was Jewish, so that's where that comes from. My mum's family is Christian, though. I went home for Christmas day and spent a few days there with mum, Edward and his fiance."
Reply
"Ah right." Ron wasn't very religious but the Weasleys had always been Christian in a loose sense, celebrating the major holidays like Christmas and Easter. "So'd you have a good visit?" As he finished speaking, the server arrived with the much-desired basket of sliced Italian bread, and Ron nodded his thanks.

"How're Harry and Hermione? I see Hermione at work, but even that seems infrequent these days."
Reply
He shrugged at her question about his best mates. "Pretty good, I reckon. Don't see much of Hermione these days." Which was a shame and something he felt guilty about, but it did take two to make a relationship, even just as best mates. "I see a lot more of Harry, of course, with training and all. He's doing well."
Their meals arrived and Ron was about to tuck in when he realised he ought to let Eloise go first. "After you, m'lady," he said. "Birthday girl gets to tuck in first."
Reply
Eloise laughed and took a quick bite so Ron wouldn't have to wait. "Why thank you. I always knew you were a gentleman deep down." She winked and took another bite.
Reply
"You're very welcome," he said, finally tucking into his own meal. "Maybe you bring out the manners in me. I reckon my mum would like that. How's your dinner? Mine's brilliant."
