His mother's birthday had almost snuck up on Ron. Almost, but not quite. For once, he actually had money to buy her something decent. Actually, he'd bought her three vouchers: One for tea at Madam Puddifoot's; another for knitting supplies at Weaver, a shop in Hogsmeade; and the last for Madam Primpernelle's in Diagon Alley. He sent the vouchers off in a large envelope, by owl, on Monday morning before he left for work. When he returned home, he saw his mother's owl waiting for him at his sitting room window, with a thank-you note. He reckoned she must be busier than usual today, fielding gifts from her husband and children. All except one. He hoped she didn't miss Fred more than usual today.
