Joshua didn't follow Liam to the darts. He wasn't sure why, but Liam's mood wasn't exactly welcoming at the moment. Did it have something to do with the girl in the purple dress?

Joshua drank his vodka tonic and watched Alicia dance a few songs with the girl from The Sweetshop. She moved well, and her obvious carefree attitude while dancing was a huge turn-on.

Finally, he walked over. "Mind if I cut in?" he asked.

The tall girl grinned and winked at him. "Not at all." She leaned over and whispered something to Alicia that Joshua couldn't hear, and then she walked off.

"Hey," he said and a slow grin tugged the corners of his mouth.

"Hey you," Alicia said, grinning back. "You made it."

She slid her hands up to Joshua's shoulders and raised her eyebrows at how tall he was. "I'm a lot shorter in flat shoes," she said, laughing.

Joshua was surprised by Alicia's touch. But her hands were warm, and it got his pulse going faster. She was still halfway moving to the music, and he grinned. "I'm not sure I have the right kind of moves for a song like this," he admitted. "And I like you short. Makes me feel like a big, strong bloke," he joked.

Alicia grinned. "Oh, you're on my turf now?" she joked, keeping her steps simple. "It's a fast song but it's actually easier than the type of dancing you know how to do, I think. For starters, you can move any way you want. No assigned steps."

She laughed. "That you are," she teased.

Joshua wrinkled his brow. "I doubt I can move any way I want. There is a fine line between dancing this type of dance correctly and looking very much like someone who has been struck by lightning," he laughed. "Show me what to do." He watched her hips move back and forth, back and forth, and he realised he was staring.

"I'm not sure my body will move like yours."

Alicia smirked slightly, pleased with his frank regard. "Watching is a good start," she teased, stepping slightly closer. "But it's easier if you can feel, I think."

She took Joshua's hands and placed them on her hips. "Just move when I do," she encouraged. "Don't worry so much about specific steps. Very different from formal dancing, I know."

Alicia put his hands on her hips, and he tried not to look surprised, but he was. A little. She was bold, which he was use to in women because his mother and sister were both very forward and blunt. But he was still caught off guard by the seemingly sweet woman who would put his hands on her body without giving it a second thought.

He realised that he wasn't speaking. All his energy seemed to be focused on the movement of her hips and the feel of her body in his hands. He chuckled. He was acting like a hormonal teenager. He took control of his thoughts, and watched her for a few more beats. Then he took one step closer and tried to move his hips like hers.

His body didn't catch on right away, but soon he found his body could sway at least half as good as hers. "Not too bad, am I?"

"Not too bad," she agreed, smiling. "I'd actually say that's a bit of an understatement," she said as Joshua's steps started matching more and more with her own movements. "It's going a lot better than my first formal dance lesson, at any rate."

She glanced up at Joshua, having noticed that he seemed quieter than he had been at the Ball. Well, Alicia was acting differently herself, more at ease here, with her friends and in casual clothes. "Am I making you uncomfortable?" she asked curiously, just realising that, while not standing as close as she usually did while dancing, they were dancing considerably more intimately than they had been at the Ball. "I know I can be, uh, impulsive."

Joshua looked down at Alicia when she asked if he was uncomfortable. It was a loaded question, wasn't it? No--he wasn't uncomfortable with their dancing. Possibly--he was uncomfortable with the way his body was responding to hers...a woman he barely knew. He was usually a bit more logical in these circumstances.

His mouth tugged up on the right side, causing his grin to be lopsided. "Your impulsiveness is sexy."

"Good thing you like it," she joked. "Gryffindor, you know. It's pretty much ingrained."

She smiled up at him as the song changed, adjusting her steps easily as it picked up speed. "Uh," she said, flushing slightly. "It may actually be easier if you move closer," she told him. "Seriously," she insisted, blushing more. "It helps you match rhythm, especially when the song is so fast.

Joshua looked down at her and she groaned, embarrassed. "I always seem to put my foot in my mouth with you."

Alicia insisted they dance closer together, and he thought, what the hell? Might as well go all in. He put one hand around her waist and pulled her body against his. She was small, and her body was hot from dancing. His temperature went up instantly.

She started moving her hips again, and because their bodies were now touching so intimately, he automatically moved in rhythm with her. He'd never really danced this way before, and he had to admit, it was fucking hot.

"You're doing fine," he said. "Better than fine actually."

Alicia inhaled sharply as Joshua started moving with her, flushing for a different reason entirely now. It had been awhile since she'd been out dancing at all; even at Katie's birthday party the dancing hadn't been like this. For starters, she hadn't been nearly this attracted to any of them.

"So are you," Alicia admitted, smiling. "I'm glad you managed to get away tonight," she said, trying to distract herself at least a little from the feel of Joshua's hips against hers. "I was hoping you would."

Joshua tightened his grip on her waist and rested his other hand on her hip, which was swaying nicely to the music. He smiled down at her. "I couldn't stay away," he said. "I needed to see you again." He wanted to see if he would be less attracted to her if he saw her again, but he wasn't.

"Glad for it," Alicia told him. She tightened her hands around his neck, barely able to reach. "I wanted to see you, too. Quite a lot, actually."

She froze for a second as the song slowed dramatically, something she hadn't been expecting. But she mentally shrugged and kept moving with Joshua. He'll move back if he was uncomfortable with the slower pace, she reasoned. It's not exactly like he's been shy expressing his opinions before.

Joshua smiled. So she wanted to see him, too? Good. The song shifted into something much, much slower, but Alicia didn't put any distance between their bodies. Now their dancing could be called nothing less than sensual. With her body rubbing against his in such a sexual way, he had to work extra hard not to become aroused.

He pulled away slightly so he could look down at her. "This dancing could be termed naughty, don't you think?" He winked.
