After spending over half the day attempting to wrangle a rogue bit of advert from where it had been wandering all over page 12c before the copy was sent to print, Padma was more than well pleased to see the figurative back of The Prophet's building. Those were precious hours she would never get back. Feeling singularly discouraged and frustrated, Padma popped home, ready to dive deeply into her current book of choice if only to leave the hustle and bustle of reality for a few precious moments and to perhaps alleviate her already strained sanity. After popping into the entry way, she looked around and picked up the post at the door, meaning to sort through it and slip it respectively under her housemates' doors. She stopped almost immediately, however, as her gaze fell on her own name.

With slightly shaking fingers, she opened the official-looking document and scanned the first few words: Dear Miss Patil: We apologise- Suddenly, Padma couldn't quite trust her legs, so she walked toward the closest stable, weight bearing and vertical surface and sat on its edge. A deep dread made her stomach clench painfully, but she forced herself to read on. We apologise for not sending a reply to your application any sooner than this. There was an oversight in regards to your application, which had been misplaced. We would be very pleased to-

She read the rest in mute wonder, and then forced herself to read it a second, even a third and fourth time. She had it. The job in the Department of Mysteries. Just so long as she passed muster with the competency tests, it was hers. There wasn't a single doubt in her mind that she would pass them, not even a sliver of anxiety. She looked up toward the room and was puzzled for a moment as to why everything looked fuzzy and then she realised that she had tears in her eyes, ones of happiness and relief. She took in a slow, shaking breath and then grinned.

Getting to her feet again, she began to go through the things she needed to do next: owl back her acceptance and schedule a time for her testing, put in her notice to the Prophet, tell her sister and Lisa and write to everyone she had ever known in all her life. All right, so the last was a bit of an exaggeration, but, bloody hell, if she didn't feel like screaming her elation and relief to the rooftops! Feeling ever so giddy, she skipped through the house, depositing the rest of the post neatly in front of their respective doors and then began planning a huge celebratory dinner- even if it might wind up being for one since she wasn't altogether certain of her housemates' plans. Despite the majority of it, this had just turned into one of the best days in recent past.
