another night of slaying dragons [for ghostgrll]

Another night of slaying dragons sounded a lot better than going out and getting into another fight.  The split lip and the cut over his left eyebrow said that it was a good decision to stay in.  Yes, there were other bruises; one over his right cheek and a few more under the shirt but he could make do with them.  They ached but it was a good kind ( Read more... )

The flowers Cori had decorated her room with were beginning to dry out but Jade didn't mind. She liked the way they felt underneath her feet and the rich, vibrant colors. Now she didn't need to look at the drab, rotting walls and that suited her just fine.

"Silly," she replied as she heard Jake's voice. She opened her door and canted her head at him. "Knock knock jokes are for little girls." She might go on at length about fairy tales but Jade wasn't a little girl.

"Did the fox run off with his tail between his legs?" Jade asked as she touched cheek, frowning now.

Strangely, it all suited her. Very few could pull off what she could pull off and that was something he appreciated about her. Now that the flowers were starting to die, they weren't as overpowering in scent like they had been before but he could put up with anything if it made her smile.

which was why he felt so bad about the fact that he had made her cry.

Hearing her reply, he chuckled softly. "I thought you liked knock knock jokes." He smirked before growing serious when she started to touch his cheek. "No, he flew away though." Which was half true.

"Looks worse than it is?" She touched the bruise at his eyebrow and then his lip. It definitely looked bad to her. It wasn't the worst she'd seen but she still didn't like it. "Or worse than it looks?"

Jade frowned and took his hand so that she could tug him into the room. "I hope he flew far away." She hoped the fox never came around again.

"Far far away."

"Looks worse than it is." The aches suck but he wants her to believe that he is just fine. He is for the most part, he's just struggling with the perception she has of him and what he thinks of himself. That's all. Still, he smiled a little at her though he was careful not to make the smile too wide because then it would hurt a bit.

As she tugged on his hand, he linked her fingers with his in a casual manner while walking into her room. "He did, Sleeping Beauty." He nodded to comfort her.

he shut the door gently before assuring her once more. "He won't come back."

"Good." She squeezed his hand and her smile blossomed much like Cori's flowers did. "He's not welcomed down our rabbit hole."

And then she scowled before sitting down on the bed. Jade patted the mattress beside her, jostling flowers as she did so. "I have my own secret garden now. Rose red brings me new flowers and helps keep it fresh."

She glanced around the room and laid back, smiling lazily as she closed her eyes. "I like the colors best."

"No, he's not and if he tries to come down, we'll scare him right back up. Right?" He smiled at her, enjoying the warmth that came from her own smile.

It was marred by the scowl but he said nothing at first as he moved to sit down beside her when she patted at hi, to. "She does bring you the very best flowers, that's for sure."

He laid down beside her, curling on his side as he curled an arm under his head and then decided instead to extend his arm so that she could place her head on it instead. "I like the colors too."

Jade turned so she was facing him and rested her head on his arm. She leaned forward and kissed his injured brow and then his cheek, thinking healing thoughts as she did so. "Think good thoughts."

Like in Peter Pan. Thinking could make magic. Who cared if they had no Tinkerbell to aide them?

Jade brushed her lips against his, careful not to hurt him. "Which color do you like best?"

His eyes closed a little as she started pressing soft kisses to his injuries. Each kiss was like a silk balm over his pains and he couldn't help but think of good thoughts when she urged him too. Of course he wasn't sure they were along the same lines of the good thoughts she was thinking.

He didn't need Tinkerbell when he had Sleeping Beauty.

When she brushed her lips against his, he returned the whisper of a touch. "Red." He murmured, reaching up to curl a lock of hair around his fingers. She always had soft hair.

"Red. Fire. Passion." Jade brushed fingers along his cheeks and kissed him again, a little deeper this time. She kept trying to will his pain away. "I like red roses. Like Rose Red."

She giggled and scooted closer, one hand touching his chest and noticed his slight inhale. "More bruises here?" she asked, concern now in her voice. "Naughty fox. No green eggs for it."

"Some of my favorite things." He murmured in reply, kissing her back again and enjoying how it went just a bit deeper. Funny, he was definitely starting to feel less pain. "I like red roses too."

He did inhale when she touched him, though it was truly a mixture of the fact that she was touching him and because of a bruise underneath. "Good, I want all the green eggs for myself. Though I was sure you'd keep pie away from me."
