I wonder what this film will or won't change for people's personal fanons.

I wonder what people's personal fanons are with regard to our Navyboys.

Does James bite his nails, does Andrew Gillette snark at anyone that annoys him, is Theo a total slut!bunny? (The answer to all three is yes, btw XD) Tell me about your fanon, ask others about their ( Read more... )

I definitely put him as a younger son. It explains why he's so devoted to duty and proving himself, either that he's capable or that he's more than a rich boy who thought being a sailor would be fun.

As for romance, he develops a serious case of nerves when he's around someone he views romantically. Again, he wants to prove himself to be worthy of being loved, whether with a woman or Gillette. My personal fanon has his best relationship being with someone who will challenge him, but are compatible in terms of morals/worldviews. Of course, when he does love, he's also pretty protective of said person despite whether they need it or not. (See: If said Norrington has a daughter, she will despair of finding a husband that doesn't run screaming after his private meeting with her father.)

His main fault is that he tends to the workaholic side of things with work so it's hard for his significant other to convince him to relax for once. Admittedly, because he loves his significant other, he will acquiesce to their demands for playtime, though often grumpily to make sure they know it wasn't his idea.

Culturally, he likes a good novel and has an extensive library at home. A good glass of port and a good book is a lovely counterpoint to his profession.

*snort* I so want someone to write one of those guidebooks for purchasing a Norrington Figurine and its care and feeding.

I definitely see him worrying if he is worthy of love - and that making him nervous and tongue tied and all stammery.

I may fic that meeting with the suitor - Magpie rolling her eyes indulgently, and James being all, "he is unworthy of you - he did not even last five minutes in my study!" And Magpie scolding him, "You have to give them a chance, dearest." And Lark pouting and insisting that the boy be brought back for an informal dinner which terrifies him.

JamesMuse: "What? Me? Initiate? I would never do that!"
AndrewMuse *sarcastically*: "Nooooo never. Not once have I been seduced doing the accounts in my office. Oh, wait, yes I have because the Commodore is a horny bastard."
JamesMuse: "Does it bother you?"
AndrewMuse: "Never stop. If you do I will never speak to you again."

My James loves history. Arrian's Campaigns of Alexander is the one he reads most frequently, although the Odyssey is a close second.

I want a Norrington! Just not a figurine
