I wonder what this film will or won't change for people's personal fanons.

I wonder what people's personal fanons are with regard to our Navyboys.

Does James bite his nails, does Andrew Gillette snark at anyone that annoys him, is Theo a total slut!bunny? (The answer to all three is yes, btw XD) Tell me about your fanon, ask others about their ( Read more... )

Gillette's name is Andrew, and he is half Irish on his mother's side. I think he was born on the wrong side of the blanket, which stigma means he doesn't give a damn what anybody thinks of him - but he has such a meas mor such a big respect for Norrington that he shows him pure trust and unflinching loyalty.

And James, for his part doesn't especially care that Andrew is not legitimate. He just cares that the man is gorgeous loyal and damn good at his job.

I also have Gillette as full or part-Irish. I just like the idea that he slips into an accent when irritated with his friends or lover ( ... )

I have a snippet of fic where he's thinking in English and swearing in Irish - and I think I posted the one where he was saying things like "is maith sin" to wind up a paddy-bashing admiral and James was covering up by saying "smashing!" LOL

He is totally the loyal one - James knows he's at his side without looking. That's pure instinct brought about by a lifetime of loyalty paired with friendship& love :-)

Gillette is not a ladies' man - much and all as I'd like to be his lady! And yes, his more sensitive side he guards with his life.

ROTFLOL THIS NEEDS TO BE WRITTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

..I'm not sure! I've actually not explored him as much as the other two! (I dont know whats wrong with me!) What I have made of my fanon Gillette is that he is quick thinking, somewhat witty and struggles at times to put up with Groves' melodrama and Norrington's brooding.

Hrm...must think about him some more I guess! =)~

Nothing wrong with not thinking about him so much - it's not a crime! :-D

It seems to be universally accepted that he is a quick wit - I loved that mermaid crack, LOL.
Anyone would need the patience of a saint to put up with all the brooding and drama ;-)

lol I have tried to work with him more, but I cant seem to write much more than angst and I feel like Groves and Norrington are more willing and able to lend themselves to such brooding and other such nonsense.

I guess Gillette just seems to light hearted for me in my mind. I will have to figure him out now! :D

For some reason I have a hard time connecting with Gillette despite the fact that I think he's an absolutely awesome character. I've basically taken the fandom approach by naming him Andrew and having him be the child of French-Irish-Catholic parents. My Gillette isn't particularly religious and while he doesn't hide his Catholicism he doesn't make a show of it either ( ... )

Late to the party but I love that idea and would *love* to see you do something with it!
