My grad school list is official. Everything is in process and nearing completion. I'm so ready to be done with applications.
My final list, in no particular order, is:
1. Indiana University - Go Hoosiers!
2. University of South Carolina - Go Gamecocks!
3. Florida State University - Go Seminoles!
4. Northwestern University - Go Wildcats!
5. Vanderbilt University - Go Commodores!
6. University of Pennsylvania - Goooooo Quakers!
I don't know that I want to be any of those, haha. Seriously. A Quaker? A Gamecock? Who comes up with this shit?
I can't believe I only have about 7 more weeks left here in Bloomington! Scary! Hopefully grad school stuff works out and I find myself somewhere new with a new challenge again next fall. I keep hoping, and working, but I am really terrible at waiting for things to fall into place. While I am ready for change, the longer I am here, the more I realize how blessed I am to be at the IU S.O.E. It's rep and rankings are for good reason and it's already giving me ridiculous opportunities that I wouldn't have had at many other schools/colleges of education. It's really cool doing homework and reading about field changing research that happened here. It's really cool learning from professors who created many of the learning systems and theories now taught in most S.O.E's. It has definitely reinforced the notion of choosing a school for your program.
I just found out, officially, today that over Christmas break I'm going to New Orleans to help rebuild in areas still hurting from Katrina. I'm excited and feeling good about doing some intensive volunteer work. I've come to realize, over my summer experiences, that even if you hate something while you're doing it, you can gain some life-changing insight from it.
