[communications] [mess hall - dinner with Len]

Dec 15, 2009 12:36

Even after adding in a leisurely walk the long way through the corridors to the mess, Tina was early for her dinner appointment with Len. She grabbed something to drink - nothing alcoholic, and no coffee, either, damnit, but at least she'd always liked fruit juices - and found a quiet table. She fiddled with a PADD while she settled in to wait. ( Read more... )

Already? Actually, that's... that's kind of neat.

A girl.

Tina, can I see you sometime?

I was surprised that he could tell. And I'm sure it'll go over great when I mention that I know the baby's sex weeks in advance of when it could be medically determined, next time I'm discussing the matter with Dr. McCoy. But, yeah. It's neat.

Of course, Jim. When would you like? And should I be worried?

I'm glad we're no longer living in those dark times when a woman's right to choose was in question. From what I've read, some factions would take to this news with added zeal.

No, no, not worried. I'm just... I do better face to face. Unless you're just not in a place to discuss any of this right now.

Yes, I thought about that, too. I'm just as glad that he didn't try communicating with her until after I'd already decided to keep her, as it might have complicated my own feelings on the matter. I mean, not that he would have just randomly tried it - it came up and then I asked if he wanted to. And this is getting to be an unnecessarily long explanation, so I'll stop.

I'm happy to discuss anything with you any time. Except immediately post-coital, obviously, unless you'll be happy with "nice" as an answer. Give me a place and a time and I'll be there.

Leonard was right on time as he entered the mess, spotting Tina already sat at a table in a quiet corner. He smiled warmly at her as he approached, sliding into the seat opposite her.

"Hey. Your day go okay?"

"Hi. Yes, it was fine. How was yours?" Tina tried not to smile mischievously, and failed. "Should I ask whether you were able to not use the dermal regenerator without any trouble?"

Leonard laughed. "You probably shouldn't, although it went not perfectly, thank you. Don't tell the mysterious unnamed person I told you so, though, or I'll be facing days worth of sulking looks." He rested his arms on the table. "And my day was fine, I managed to successfully track down McCoy after all. You hungry?"

Tina nodded. "I was waiting for you, but I could definitely stand to eat. Were you in the mood for anything in particular? All I can focus on is 'meat.' I probably need protein."
