April Movies I'm Ridiculously Excited For

It's new feature time here at I Watch Movies and Then Talk About Them. Instead of season long overviews of upcoming movies, every month of the upcoming movie season I'm going to go through the list of the movies I'm ridiculously excited for. Starting right now, with my favorite month of them all, APRIL.

Adventureland (April 3)- This movie follows the exploits of recent college grad James Brennan as he takes a post-collegiate job at a theme park to help pay the bills. Remove the "post" park and you have last summer for me. Jesse Eisenberg (The Squid and the Whale) stars, along with the erst-while Bella Swan, Kristen Stewart, and a supporting cast that includes Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, and Martin Starr.

Crank: High Voltage (April 17)- The first movie was a rocking, crazy loveletter to ridiculous action films and flimsy plots with gratuitous sex, face smashings, and car chases starring the king of all such movies, Jason Statham. The sequel can't help but be amazing.

17 Again (April 17)- I know I should be embarassed about being this excited to see the reverse-Big, Zac-Effron-starring vehicle, but I just can't be. I find Efron loveable, and the preview looks all kinds of goofy, teenage goodness. Not even Michelle Trachtenberg's presence can dissuade me from being jazzed to see this film. The plot follows Mike O'Donnell (Matthew Perry) who has lived a life "full of regrets" (thanks IMDB) and suddenly gets de-aged into his 17 year old self. He goes to his daughter and son's school and hijinks ensue, complete with Effron rocking ridiculous outfits and making awkward flirting with his wife (Leslie Mann). If the movie can just keep me from thinking that Effron is hitting on his "daughter" (Trachtenberg) it looks like a rollicking good time.

MOVIES I HAVEN'T QUITE DECIDED ABOUT:

Observe & Report (April 10)- This has Seth Rogen and Anna Farris in it. Other than that, it looks generic, and like an R-rated Mallcop. Rogen might be enough to get me into the theater though.

observe & report, adventureland, crank: high voltage, 17 again
