I'm moving into my sweet-arse DC apartment this Friday night! It's literally a 5-block walk to the White House. ^_^ Sooo sweet. If you're in the area, you need to visit me.
Note to self: You need to coordinate with Sandy about dinner this weekend.
I'm looking into information about the surrounding area - I've even picked up a Safeway ad since it's either that or Whole Foods. (And let's be honest - Whole Foods on a college intern's budget would mean that I'd lose weight a helluva lot faster than I'd like...) I think my personal plan is to wander around the area on Saturday and get acquainted with the area, see where the nearest drugstore (CVS?) is, etc.
This Monday, I tried to make an Excel spreadsheet to create a budget for this summer. After tallying up all of the expenses I anticipate, I almost cried. I'm just hoping my transportation costs aren't very high - that's the one area I was hoping to cut down on by getting this apartment. (The apartment is lovely, and although the monthly rent is steep, I figure it's worth it considering how I won't have to pay exorbitant Metro costs and I'll save time by avoiding rush-hour subway travel.)
The College Summer Intern Diet, by Audrey Kim
Want to lose that Freshman 15 you gained for each year you were in college? Have an expensive apartment? Have only a Whole Foods for a within-walking-distance food distributor? Well have I got the diet for you.
This book will show you exactly where to go to blow your food budget for the entire summer, where to throw up when you have your panic attack after entering your credit card receipts into your crude Excel spreadsheet, and how to pan-handle for your next Mickey Dee's cheeseburger.
