Sigh...

I know many people have been places where they really didn't want to come back from. I sort of felt that way with New York. But Oregon...
All I can say is beautiful.
I had never been to the opposite coast and it really is different. Its cooler and there are beautiful rock formations along the Oregon coast. There was even an area where the mountains go right into the water.
Most amazing.
And waterfalls. I had never really seen anything like them, save some small ones in Northern Florida but nothing compared to these.
I had some difficulty getting there, almost had to spend the night in Dallas, TX. Glad I didn't have to do that though I ended up reaching Portland about five hours later than expected as I had to make a second connecting flight through LA unexpectedly.
I had a pleasant surprise, however, in finding that phoenixgirl721 was going to be staying with me starting Friday instead of Sat.
We had a wonderful week together and both weekends as well.
The Falls, the Coast, small mountain towns and small harbor towns...it was truly amazing. And so much green and so many different trees and flowers. I stopped on a walk to the local Mall in her town and just gazed into the distance because there were mountains there. It was beautiful and nothing that can be seen here in Florida.

Our first date was at the Melting Pot. I had reserved something a little special and it was fabulous. If you have never been to one I suggest at least doing it once. This particular reservation had flowers and wine waiting at the table (the wine was a valued French wine with hand painted bottle). The dinner included lobster tail which isn't a normal entree and the private atmosphere, the food, and of course the company, was all very amazing.

During the course of the visit, my girlfriend refueled my interest in Dungeons and Dragons. Now I have a compelte 4th Ed basic set (the Players, DMs, and Monster Manual, the tileset and a few figurines I picked up back at home). She seems to be enjoying it thus far and I find myself falling back into the urge to run a game.

Though she had to work, it was a wonderful time. Can there be a more perfect woman than the one who has to get up a little early to watch Firefly with breakfast before work?
I only wish we had had time to make it through the entire series and Serenity before my heading back.

And heading back I had to. After a wonderful week and a half thereabouts, the dread Monday came where it was time to go back to the airport and, eventually (via Philly this time) home. I let out a heavy sigh when that plane landed back at OIA. I have never regretted coming back to Florida more in my life.
But here I am. And now I'm waiting for my girlfriend to make her own flight down here. That is still some time off but the end of that vacation may be a lot less painful *attempted innocent smile here*

I hope everyone had an enjoyable week and this one is going good as well. I will try to get some pics linked at some point when I get my jet-lagged lazy butt back in the swing of things.
