No, not the fun kind; the life's events kind.
Some good: This week, Kelly finally got to a hospital that listened to her and tried to help.
The bad: I was looking forward to Friday going to a work party for a coworker that is moving to Texas, when another coworker's husband suddenly passed away on Thursday. He had been feeling ill and went to the dr and the ER, and they didn't do anything. Then he collapsed after getting out of the shower as he was getting ready for work. He was only 51. Their sons are 4 years apart. This year, one graduated from college and the other graduated from high school. It's good that he saw them graduate, but I'm worried about my friend now being in the house alone suddenly. I will go to the viewing on Tuesday.
Some more good: I did go to the party yesterday. I got to see my friend Diane, who I haven't seen since she came to my house for lunch last year. She had her second knee replaced this month, so I gave her a ride. It was good to catch up with her. She is getting a divorce from her husband, who is a gifted composer, but an alcoholic, and is emotionally abusive. But I was glad to see Diane is doing well. She has a really nice apartment and a busy social life. Now all she needs is a teaching job for next year. She retired a few years ago, but needs a part time position to be able to afford living on her own. I also got to see Alison, who had her baby 13 days ago. She was given a break from her chemo to help the baby grow a little more, and then her doctor said that if the cancer was totally gone, she could skip the last 3 chemo treatments and go straight to the radiation. That would really be wonderful.
Jeremy came to the party to and helped watch the kids so I could talk to people. Samantha spent most of the party in the pool!
Tonight we're going out to dinner with friends, then Jeremy is going with them to a Baysocks game.
