December has been quite the roller coaster

Here are some events from December, in no particular order (not even chronological)

I had the winter concert, which ended up being okay. I can't complain.

Samantha had her birthday. She had her first slumber party. She has nice friends, and it went well. We "screened" Guardians of the Galaxy, so I decorated with an outer space theme.

She got old-fasioned "birthday spanks" at tang soo do.

Samantha also got a hamster for her birthday. She named her Rue. (I prefer to think of it as Roo.) I still need to get some pictures of her. She's quite cute.

We went to the Aquarium and Walter's Art Gallery with my friend Farrah, her 3-year-old son, fiance, and his kids (the same age as mine) It was a lot of fun, but quite exhausting.

We had the last meeting of the White Plum Zen Community. Many people showed up and we gave our teacher a good send off. Jeremy was even there, and it was very cool, but extremely sad. After I came home, I felt like I had attended the funeral of a dear friend. I'm still having trouble dealing with this one.

Jeremy's brother and sister-in-law came to Maryland for Christmas. I got to meet my three-month-old niece. They are so funny as new parents. I know Jeremy and I had our hang-ups dealing with our first baby, so I can see the humor in it all.

Jeremy and his brother took a few trips to the hospital to visit their grandfather. We don't know when/if he is coming out, or where he will go from there.

One more thing about Jeremy, he started doing Tang Soo Do with us! (And I am not-so-secretly delighted that he is finding the workouts to be challenging.)

I got to see rhiannon76! Always a good thing! I have learned a lot about how to be a good aunt from her.  :)

We had friends over so they could see Jer's brother & co. in one convenient visit. Found out PK and JK are having twins in June!!!

We did New Year's Eve with Jeremy's gaming group. We mashed many buttons with Super Smash Bros., and played a card game called Poo. It was late, and it suited our mood/thinking ability. We had a good time with good food. I miss Dick Clark though.

Today (not December, but worth mentioning) we saw Night at the Museum 3 with my friend Rhonda and her husband. The movie was better than I thought it would be. It tied up a lot of ends and had some good emotional bits. Seeing Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney was sad too.

I also read book 11 of "How to Train Your Dragon." The series is so much better than I had thought from just the first book. Can't wait for the last book to come out this year.

Before I go back to work, I still have more to look forward too. Groomsmaid dress shopping, crepes at the French Twist, and seeing the Xmas Doctor Who episode with my friend Dawn.

It's never dull here.
