Actually, our family went to Deep Creek Lake with Patrick, and Jen. His cousin owns a small vacation house there (she is trying to sell it, so if you know anyone who is interested...)
We met everyone in Frederick, had dinner at the Cracker Barrell, and drove the rest of the way Friday night. I had a phone signal, but once we got west of Frederick, there were roaming charges associated with the 3G, so no email or Facebook for me for the weekend. We were in Garrett County, which is almost West Virginia.
There's not much to tell, really. It was a nice, relaxing weekend; no drama or stress. We went for a hike at
Swallow Falls State Park. The leaves were changing color, and even though it was c-o-l-d in the morning, it was a very pretty park, with a few waterfalls.
Christopher stepped in some water about half way through, and tried to insist on being carried the rest of the way, but Jeremy stopped and wrung out his sock, so he was able to endure.
We had planned to have a campfire, but it was still pretty cold out, and very windy, so I wimped out and made s'mores in the microwave instead. The view of the sunset from the house was great.
The next morning we had breakfast, packed, and cleaned, and were able to leave by 10:30. We stopped in Hagerstown for lunch, and got home around 2:30. Then we had a nice dinner at Jeremy's parents' house and got the kids to bed.
Thanks again to Patrick and Jen, and his cousin Teri for the use of the house!
I got some knitting done, even though I ended up ripping most of it out :(
Today I gave Christopher a haircut, because he didn't want to go to the barber shop. I'm a little out of practice with hair cutting. I hope his bangs grow in a bit before picture day...
I finished knitting a hat for Jeremy's aunt last week, just in time for her surprise 60th birthday party. I got a thank you card in the mail, but I'm not sure she realizes that it is hand knit. At least she likes the color.
I have parties coming up for the next 2 weekends, so we are busy, busy busy. By the way, does anyone know which wormhole my daughter's library book has fallen into?
