Year 44 Week 14 Monday

Jul 11, 2016 21:21

It was pretty much a feast or famine night.

I had thought my 3yo AW route colt Always Strike Out had gone bellyup on me, after I'd purchased a starting berth for him in next year's Pegasus Cup.  He'd lost three races in a row, including two 7th place finishes, after being undefeated in his first five starts.  Then, tonight, he comes up the rail to pull off a Grade 2 victory.  I'll bypass the Steward's Cup with him, but I might run him in something the final day of the year, before the Pegasus Cup.

The 5yo homebred steepechase gelding Italian Faux Pas finally got a win in the Game Point Sired Stakes, after five prior attempts.

The only stakes placing was 2yo homebred route filly Eastern Shapes in her Game Point Sired stakes.

All the other winners were maidens, most of them juveniles.  There was also a breeder award.

50: 9-8-3 for 18% wins, 40% OTB, and earnings of 307k.
