I am really loving Team USA this year. They won't ever touch the '92 dream team (no team will ever be close), but I think this may be the best team the country has fielded since then. I give major props to the three major players from the class of 2003 - LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and DeWyane Wade. They trounced Puerto Rico (a team which beat us in Athens in 04) and thrashed China each by 40+ points. They play Brazil on Tuesday, which should be the biggest test so far- Brazil has both Anderson Varejao (the dude with dreds from the Cavaliers) and Leandro Barbosa of the Suns. Both of those guys start for teams in the NBA- Yao Ming didn't play for China last night and Puerto Rico only had Carlos Arroyo, a backup point guard for the Magic (who went to the Finals with the Pistons- they wanted to free up cap space for Ben Wallace who they DIDN'T SIGN). Anyways, The Brazil game isn't on TV, and I'm only writing about the China game because I read about it, it doesn't play until 9:30 tonight on tape delay. I encourage all to watch it.

Anyways, The New Dream Team is here, and they are owning. I really hope (and think) that this team has some chemistry. For the first time in more than 10 years, the team has been practicing. Before, they just kind of went out and played. That quit working because basketball became a worldwide sport, and teams got good. So now, we are practicing, and we are owning. I'm hyped about Bejing, anybody else?

In other news, the MLS all-stars beat FC Chelsea. Say whatever you want to about it being preseason for Chelsea and how the MLS is in mid season form, but please. the MLS all-stars beat FC Chelsea. To draw a baseball analogy, it would be like the AAA allstars (the league that the Bats play in) beating the Yankees. yeah. Soccer is coming to the United States, which is good.
