Foreword
..................................................
Well, it looks like yet again, I've left my journal out to brave in the cold, disowning it for yet another fourteen plus days (twenty-three days to be exact). But alas, I've finally come around to feeling productive enough to write something worth your time, because I aim for quality and not groaning over and over again about my personal life or about how my love life sucks or about my schedule for the week, you get the point. I guess I'm not as random as you all thought I was, but none the less, here's your latest update from the world of Rah.
It's December now, and we got about an inch of snow the other day, with the weather forecasting another possible 2 - 4 inches over the next day or so. My saying for this is simple: welcome to the holiday season, and it's already proving to be very true with the number of idiots on the road, etc. This kind of weather always proves to be so much fun to drive in, and with my schedule this week of waking up nice and early to do graphics at 4 AM, you can smell the tires burning from sliding on black ice already.
I haven't really been doing much lately, hard to believe, but then you would have to ask why it's taken me so damn long to update. Well, the schedule I've been having has been tight, and throw in a couple of nights where I head off to the movies with dad or to the 'hot spots' with my uncle, and you get zero time to do this sort of thing.
Work to be Done
..................................................
I've been keeping up with working at Shore and Country, but the club closes for the season (if you can even call it that) at the end of this month. I've been a little upset about my work lately, but not because of the hours, but because of the type of work. I was hired as a bartender, trained a few timed as a bartender, and then one day one of my managers came up to me and asked me if it would be possible for me to fill in as a busboy one night, since they didn't have enough for some huge party the next day. I agreed to it and I guess somehow they now get the idea that I'm a busboy, and have been having me work all these parties as a busboy, pretty much throwing out any type of bartending what so ever.
I bused Thursday afternoon for a party of over 200 people, Friday night for a party of around the same number, and Saturday night for a regular dinner shift. I already called out this week for work besides Saturday because of graphics work to do, but I would have had to do one party on Thursday morning and probably another on Friday and maybe one on Saturday. Everyone is calling in parties now because the season is ending, and busing those sorts of events is eventful to say the least. The thing I hate most about it is having to set up after the night is over for the next day, skirting tables and setting up the plates and silverware all over again, it's like work after working and it takes an extra hour to do. I've had to pretty much hide away and act busy because I'm always getting yelled at for something or nobody wants me to help them.
There's also this total dick (pardon my language) that works there that thinks he like runs the show and I don't know what the f*** is wrong with him but he's younger than me and he thinks he can boss me around because he's been there longer. He doesn't ever want me to help him and he's always got some kind of complaint against me, like I was in the dishwashing room wiping down plates and he was asking me why the waitress in the room two rooms across was pouring water instead of me, uh am I in that room? And then at the event he broke a glass or something and was in my way to try and put my glasses away and I couldn't get the glass into the crate that we have to put them in. I couldn't reach and the glass slipped out of my hand and broke, then he rushed off like a little baby and wouldn't help me with the rest of the dishes.
It was priceless the other night though because another one of the head people there (there's a lot of 'bosses' if you haven't noticed it already) asked me what took me so long to get to the room to help them set up and asked me if I was talking to the kid and I said no I don't talk to him almost right in his face hah. But yeah he always has something to say about me like I forgot to give people bread and butter and he must have said something to somebody and they came and got me and were nagging me and he's just standing there with his arms folded, I'd knock him out if I wasn't going to get fired for it, either that or do a nice western throwing across the bar on him.
Christmas Shopping
..................................................
Another joy of the holiday season is rushing through the stores with the rest of the insane people, trying to get the best deal possible on the best things. This is the first year I actually went out on Black Friday, and if it wasn't for my dad being home, I would have been better off walking. He didn't want me going out because it was 'too cold', so I had to almost get into five accidents in the parking lot before deciding to just f*** it and park across the street and walk over hah.
I ended up buying a digital camera for myself because my parents would have no idea what I wanted, so I got this pretty sweet deal from Walmart. It's a Kodak EasyShare Z760 w/ camera dock and it came with a 256 MB SD card for $230, the camera itself regular price was $275. I had to buy the warranty from online though since they didn't have any in the store and that was another $20 something dollars, but I used a gift card for that. I'm still waiting to get that, but that's another story.
The funny thing is my mom came to me the other day and told me that they were going to buy me a camera for Christmas hah. So I told her that this was a cheaper one and I didn't want to spend like $100 more on the Cybershot, and she told me that they'd chip in so I'm going to return this camera and the warranty once I get it and now I changed my mind hah, I'm not getting a Cybershot because the zoom seems terrible. I'm going to try to get a Canon Powershot A550, the newest one, pretty sweet.
I'm trying to shop for other people now but with my schedule I haven't had the time to, plus nobody helps me in telling me what they might want (major hint people). I've been getting ideas on what to get Damion but I don't have a clue on my parents or other friends, or if I'm going to get anything for this girl that I'm still trying to go after. Why are parents so hard to buy for? I know that my mom won't use anything I give to her unless it's body spray or jewelry, and my dad is happy with anything I think last year I got him a KISS CD holding sleeve or something and the year before I got him a 49ers coffee mug hah. I think this year I might get him an electric shaving kit or something, and I wanted to get mom one of those soft NAP pillows from Brookstone, or maybe I'll get them a pair of those self setting alarm clocks so when the power goes out they don't have to do that all around the house, who knows!
Random Thoughts & Things
..................................................
. The News 12 Winter Party is on Friday night at the very enchanting Sterling Farms Royal Green in Stamford. The dinner selections for your drooling pleasure: Medallion of Filet Mignon (my choice), Chicken Francaise, or Tilapia Muniere.
. Thank you to everyone who did their best to help me with the loss of my grandfather, you were there for me when I needed to talk to somebody and you didn't turn me away or act like you had something better to do than listen. I appreciate it greatly, and you know that I would do the same in return for you. It's hard to believe that he's been gone two weeks already, but each day gets a little better with your help, thank you again. It's good to know that even distance isn't a problem when friendship appears in times like these.
. I'm going to be redoing my LiveJournal and Myspace pages soon, as in recoding them or 'pimping them out'. Someone suggested that I do that, and I was going to start working on it soon anyway, so it'll be my present to you for the holiday season, since I'm such a cheap ass hah.
