2010 briefly, 2011 projections

January: I got a Mac
February: I went to Belgium (first time)
March: My internet connection was broken for three weeks
April: I split my trousers open on Tom's parents' staircase
May: I went to Scotland (first time)
June: Work was slow and I enjoyed being a slacker
July: Work got busy--I went to Russia (first and second times) and it sucked
August: My boss cancelled my vacation--I went to Russia (third and fourth times) and it sucked
September: Work was crazy busy and it sucked
October: Work was crazy busy and it sucked--for Halloween I was a Japanese pirate
November: Work slowed down a bit and I went to Guernsey (first time) and Saginaw (not first time)
December: Work was busy and I returned to Saginaw (necessarily not first time)

Work-wise, the first half of the year was better. Work has sucked mainly because of one deal, which is Russian and which still hasn't gone away. It is scheduled to finish in February (with most of the work finished in January). If it doesn't take off in January it will mean a lot more work and will continue for at least a couple more months, which will kill my spirit. I have two other deals right now that will not kill my spirit and could potentially get me back to liking my job more once the Russian deal goes away.

For Christmas I got three CDs and a sick transparent silver TI-83 calculator (now I'll be able to see all my sums at home, in the office, and on the road). I think the silver calculator will be my home calculator, while I'll keep the TI-82 at work and relegate my more drab black TI-83 to my briefcase.

In January I'll turn 29--my brother has explained that's the last of the cool years, which I'll naturally keep in mind.

I have a little under $24,000 left in student loans to pay off. I am pretty confident I can make a $6,500 payment in January and hopefully a $6,000 payment in February, March and April (the astute among you will have figured out that the April payment would actually be less than $6,000 assuming payments totalling $18,500 theretofore) and then be debt free. I think $6,000 a month might be aggressive (not clear yet what my paychecks will be in 2011), in which case repayment in full would occur in May, hopefully in any event no later than June. It means a few more months of relative austerity, but then I'll be back to zero, a position I haven't been in since 2000, and I'll buy a Rolex.

Apart from returning to Saginaw hopefully in the summer, I think I would like to go to the Faroe Islands in the late spring and some place nice in the fall (either Wales or a return trip to Bath or Guernsey).

What else should 2011 hold? I hope you all have a good year. Stay ever vigilant-- /B/
