Meme stolen from Reynardine

How can I resist a travel meme? Not easily, particularly when I am trying not to think about when my baby might be born and how uncomfortable I feel because she is bumping her butt against my ribs.

Despite not living in Japan, I am tempted to do hinoai's Japan meme since I feel like with over 30 trips to Japan, it's almost as if I have lived there, just avoided ever having to deal with some of the things I would hate about living in Japan year round lol

(Like no central heat in winter, no insulation, very few Jews/Jewish food, not being able to get a rail pass, being functionally illiterate, etc..)

Bold the places you’ve been and italicize the places you want to go to. Draw a line across the places you have no interest to go to.

Add one place you’ve been and one place you’d like to go to the bottom.

My best trip ever...
I don't really know... I think I've enjoyed so many of my trips and I always try to find something positive. I loved traveling through the Czech Republic with Kennis and visiting small towns and newly restored Synagogues. I also have loved nearly all my trips to Japan. I particularly love trying to see something new each trip or do something I've not done before. The trips where it was just same old/same old were a little less fun for me.

My worst trip ever...
Gah, so many to chose from! I ended up hating my last trip to Europe because we were stranded in London during 9/11. It was an awful experience and I found the Europeans just miserable to deal with and completely unsympathetic. It really colored my view on Europe and is one reason I've not been back.

I also just hated some of my childhood trips around upstate NY. Thousand Islands was not beautiful or sunny, it was cold and miserable and my parents refused to take us to the water park. I don't even want to think about our trip to Rome, NY where the best thing about it was outlet shopping and a make your own sundae bar.

Salt Lake City and Ogden are also pretty high up there. At least both have more restaurant choices now thanks to the Winter Olympics.

Most important thing I ever lost on a trip...
Uhhhhh in 2002 I lost a pin in Miyajima? A bottle of VM Fairy Floss perfume I left in either Oberlin or Cedar Point? (speaking of amusement parks, WTH Cedar Point >>>>>> Busch Gardens or Universal)

Most important thing I ever forgot to take on a trip...

My memory lol The last trip to Japan I kept forgetting things and easily getting confused. The biggest mistake I ever made on a trip was I booked my airfare for the wrong day to Prague but Luftasana was very nice and managed to still get us on a flight going there. I think it was even better than the original flights since Dusseldorf is nicer to change in than Frankfurt.

Thing I miss most when I'm away...
My husband! He doesn't like to travel :( Next would be my bed.

Thing I miss least when I'm away...
Doing dishes lol

Favorite travel partner...
Kennis, even though he has certain issues when traveling. I love that we seem to enjoy similar things and he is a vegetarian too! ♥ I'm not sure how would be #2 I've had a good time with a lot of people.

Place I hope to travel to someday...
Hawaii! I so wanted to go there when we first got married, but it was not something we could justify financially. I still want to go. I'm not so into beaches but it has some lovely hikes and volcano! I'd also love to go to New Zealand. The place I'm most likely to go again is Japan XD;;;;; (probably in 2011)

What's your first travel memory?
Desperately wanting to go to Great Adventure in NJ to go on a log flume at 3. (I didn't make it until I was 17) Supposedly, my Mom took me all over the MidWest at 1, but I don't remember it. We never went on family vacations anywhere until I was about 9 or so, when we traveled around upstate NY. Since I was 9 or so, I remember that trip very well lol We went to: Thousand Islands (hated), Eisenhower Locks (hated), Malone (There were cows behind the motel, we thought this was AWESOME!), High Falls Gorge (lots of fun), John Brown's Farm (Awful), Whiteface Mountain (sort of frightening lol), Ausable Chasm (lots of fun), Lake Champlain (no monsters), Burlington, VT (not so interesting for a 9 year old, it seemed like mostly yuppie shopping), Forts Ticonderoga and WIlliam Henry (both were fun particularly the latter) and Lake George. One of the highlights of the trip were signs on the expressway saying an exit was coming up and then when we got to said exit it said it was "To Be Built" We thought this was hilarious.

Name one place that you traveled to as a kid and returned to as an adult.
I'm not sure there is any place like that. lol About as close as I can get is the Museum of Natural History in NYC.

Was it weird?
A little, we know a lot more about dinosaurs then we did when I was a kid so the museum has been changed and updated. Its also a little strange seeing some of the super ancient exhibits which were old even when I was little.

How do you sleep on airplanes: booze, drugs or au natural?
I fly Business Class XD;;;;;;;

But normally I don't. If I take drugs I feel groggy when I get to my destination. Booze makes me sleepy, but it also constipates you. ~.~ It is pretty awful on flights to Japan to not be able to sleep. I only make it through thanks to my ipod and on ANA flights all the subbed Japanese movies.

Name one thing you think every traveler should see before they die.
I don't think there is anything, everyone has such different tastes and interests and one person's ideal trip is another person's nightmare.

Where have you been that you would not recommend to others?
Houston, TX. Giant Flying Roaches!

Name one non-travel thing you learned on a trip.
Uhhhh Uhhhhh I can't think of anything?

Do you play any games when you travel, like counting convertibles or mullets?
We use to look for out of state license plates and look for the ones from furthest away.

What's an awesome idea for a theme park that no one has thought up?
I like theme parks, but I think everything that is needed has been thought up. At the moment, my favorite theme parks are the onsen ones ♥ Oh, Yunessun, I will come back to you!

Name the coolest animal you've seen in the wild and tell why you loved it.
Bighorn Sheep! or maybe the monkeys... but I'm not sure how wild they were....

If you could go to Bora Bora with anyone, who would it be?
Kennis! But only if someone else was paying and we had LOTS of sunscreen.

What's the weirdest thing you've eaten on your travels?
I don't eat weird foods, it's why I am a vegetarian. :P Though to some people the pickled things I've eaten in Japan might be weird, same with the Natto.

Yellowstone or Yosemite?
Neither! I'd rather go back to Arches, even if it is a desert.

What country do you think has the best traditional fashion?
I'm not a fashion person.

Name one place in the USA you've never been to but want to see.
Volcano, Big Island, Hawaii. Actually I'd love to see most of the Big Island.

Road trips: Love or hate?
Depends on where to, and who is driving XD;

Do you or have you ever lived abroad?
No. I spent 1 month in France and I've spent more than a year in Japan if you add all my trips together, but I've never actually lived abroad. Unless you count my year in Houston... which you know really was like living in a foreign country. lol

Do you sleep in when traveling, or get up at the crack of dawn?
Crack of dawn! I love to get up early and go out and sightsee. I'm not a laze around while on vacation type of person... except when pregnant but that doesn't count.

Name three things you hate about being away from home. (Assuming Kennis is with me)
1) Finding places to eat in certain locales. ~.~
2) Crappy beds with even crappier pillows
3) Worrying about the cat

Name three things you love about travel.
1) ONSEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) Taking lots of pictures
3) Trying new restaurants
