Last night was the first game of the summer ultimate league,
DUDE
(Diego Ultimate Disc Experience). I've been playing since the
third year of it's existence and I had so much fun my first year that
I've kept coming back. In fact, the league was so successful that
they just recently added a winter and spring league to accommodate the
strong ultimate community in San Diego. The summer league is run
by the
UCSD ultimate teams while the spring and winter leagues are run by
others in the community.
I have a lot of fun with the game, and I've been playing so much
recently that my game has really picked up. It used to be that I
would play during the summer, slowly get into shape, then sit on my
butt for the rest of the year and have to repeat the process.
This year was different because I didn't sit on my butt all year,
instead I've been playing a
couple of times a week during lunch, and I also played in the
spring league.
I've also been improving my throwing, catching, and running games, so I
feel like I'm playing great. We'll see how well the conditioning
pays off through the season, as it's already off to a good start with a
win last night.
