So I walk outside to see if it's raining again, and saw this massive yacht at the commercial dock. I took a shot or two, came in and googled it.
M/Y Sorcha (August - September 2006):
Sorcha is a 140 feet motor yacht travelling around the Pacific. Departing from Florida, they sailed to Belize, then Galapago, Marquesas, Tuamotu and Society islands in French Polynesia. They will then head to Rarotongo, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Alaska and the West Coast of the US.
Bill and Kelly, the owners, live permanently aboard throughout the trip with their lovely two little girls, Madison (4 years old) and Mackenzie (7 years old). We spent unforgettable moments together in September 2006. First in the Tuamotu islands where we visited Fakarava and Rangiroa where we encountered many sharks, rays, tuna fish and many other fish.
The highlight of our Tuamotu dives was definitely our encounter with a 9 foot long great hammerhead shark in the Avatoru Pass of Rangiroa.
Our cruise in the Society Islands was obviously shared between diving and whale watching, September being the peak season to see them.
In Moorea, we were lucky enough to swim with two humpback whales for about half an hour. Madison and Mackenzie joined them and enjoyed this incredible show as much as we all did.
Sorcha has now left Tahiti and her islands for other adventures and I already miss Bill & Kelly, the girls, John and the rest of the crew.
