Life in Colonia & Talguw, Yap, Micronesia

I'm recovering. It seems a local epidemic of the flu struck last week and I most likely came down with it while travelling after being earlier exposed. Tress and Peter came back last night after two months away. When we met them at the airport, I quarantined myself from the baby Milo to avoid getting him sick.

Peter opened his mail and found that he won his appeal on behalf of Richard and Joe, the two refugees from Burma / Myanmar. Now they are officially recognized by the UNHCR as political refugees. good news. Whatever happens, they won't be shipped back to Burma.

While I was away, the fiscal year for government closed; the last checks go out next week. My one year anniversary of working here came yesterday. The Indonesian live fishing boat is gone, apparently back to Palau.

How can it be possible for a new computer to require defragmentation after less than one month? Total chaos.
