this is scary!
Some may recall the entry that I posted on May 24, 2006. If you don't then go back through my entries and find it. But to save you the time I will summerize. I was critizing the Dixie Chicks for taking back their apology about the comment they made about being ashamed from being from the same state as President Geogre W. Bush. I later then wrote that America needs to wake up! I want to make this loud and clear in October of 1962, America was at the height of BRINKMANSHIP. Now let me define the definition of BRINKMANSHIP for all the people who have herad the term but may have forgotten exactly what in means or for the peole who have never heard it before (this is also directed at the media for using it out of context during their wonderful news casts!!!!)
Brinkmanship - a foreign policy were a nation risks going to war to protect their national intrest.
Basically it is a policy in which a country takes another country to the brink of war in hopes of meeting getting their way through hopefully compromise.
In Ocober of 1962, Russia had nuclear missles in Cuba that would take a total of 5 min. to launch and wipe out D.C. and probably even up to New York. Kennedy did the right thing and instead of taking matters into his own hands he handed it over to the UN. Through the UN we made a DIRECT COMPROMISE with the Soviets that we would take out the misseles we had pointed at them if they took their missels out. After a stressfull 13 days the Cuban Missle Crisis was sovled, after of course actions of war were made, for example we created a Naval Quareenteen (Blockaide) monertining what the Soviets were bringing in to Cuba. We also knew that the missles were opertional and would work. THEY ALREADY HAD THE TECHNOLOGY TO PRODUCE THE WEAPONS. Also other countries of the world did nothing to really aide us durring the Crises it was just us keep in mind the COLD WAR was still going on!
On July 4, 2006, North Korea tested at least 7 missles equvalent to those used in WWII and fired them without warring at Japan. Like in 1962, the matter was taken to the UN were all the nations present are agianst the testing of the weapons. North Korea was even warrend about testing the missles but the proceded anyway. Well 7 missles down and guess what they did not have the technology to produce said weapons, (unless of course they secretly have missles that they know work and just fired those to make the world mad at them.
North Korea is tring to streach it's arms and enter the imperialistic world that the US joined in in the 1900's. They wanted to make a show for the world to see in particular us. Unfortunatly for them their weapons did not work. They way I see it is this is North Korea's The Great White Fleet, the only problem they are not ready.
Now don't get me wrong this is a very serious matter and does not need to be taken lightly. Everybody learned that when the League of Nations did nothing when Germany invaded Poland in 1935. Something must be done because eventually they will have the right technology.
As far as Japan goes I feel that the term BRINKMANSHIP fits. I mean come on they were shot at.
And also remember that when it comes to wars between America and communist countries for some un-expained reason we do not have a good track record and we need to be carefull. China is not going to let North Korea fall no matter what and we all no that China has nuclear capabilities and that is scary. Foreign counties are far more educated than we are and things could get nasty!
