Merlin...errr Ok... True Blood - "I want to do bad things to you..."

So I watched the first 2 episodes of MERLIN. I'm assuming that a lot got cut due to the ENORMOUS number of commercials that aired during both episodes (NBC "we don't have a lot of viewers BUT we have A LOT of corporate sponsorship!) The first episode felt the most cut up and the second I'm assuming had a lot of fighting removed because watching the ( Read more... )

I meant to watch Merlin but totally forgot to set my DVR (imagine that). I did catch about half hour of the 2nd episode and I was not impressed. I did say "Richard would so kick all your asses" a few times though ;-)

I watched the first season of True Blood and while I love a good vampire as much as the next person, I was kinda turned off by the...graphic nature of some of the show's components. I'm a wimp! I will agree on your love for Anna Paquin, sh's brilliant in the role ;-)

Eh I'm not bothered by the graphic sex on the show. I watched Sex and the City, 6 Feet Under, The Sopranos, AND Queer as Folk. Trust me, if you learn to not be shocked while watching an hour filled w/ gay sex on Queer - you can watch anything and say "yeah whatever."

Jason's horn-dogness just cracks me up though.

Indeed. LOTS makes Merlin feel very tame, but I guess BBC "family time" has far more constraints than Disney! Having read (or in process of reading) the SOT books, I still rather like the TV adaptation - which says a lot for the actual script writing, acting and directing too. I've not seen True Blood as I didn't think I wasn't into the vampires either, but a colleague at work just recommended it too... Hmm, one more to catch this summer! Cheers, lis

My feelings about Merlin exactly! It's okay, but it's no Seeker! *G* And hell to the yes that Richard is SO much better looking than Arthur! (and Robin Hood too! *G*)

True Blood's good fun! I really like Sam and Jason and Tara and Lafayette :)

I caught Merlin, too, and I think it was all right. Like you said, a lot was probably cut out (when MI-5 aka Spooks was on A&E, it got ripped to shreds). I guess I'm just waiting for more...drama, maybe? More reasons to feel connected to the characters. Right now, I don't know enough to really care about any of them.

And I LOVE Clive Owen's King Arthur. I think I've worn out the DVD, lol.

I watched the first season of Merlin when it was aired in BBC and I enjoyed. At that time i hadn't seen LOTS so I couldn't compare and I saw Merlin as a fantasy show, obviously you cannot miss the differences with the Arthurian legend but it entertained me so it's okay. Camelot castle is located in France and it looks awesome and they're already shooting Season 2, but you'd rather not being spoiled about it.

I agree with you, between Arthur and Richard, i'd go for Richard without hesitation
