My TV Schedule from Hell - Legend of the Seeker is coming!

Oct 20, 2008 15:14

So I have a confession, I'm a tv junkie. Thanks to all of the networks finally jumping onto the Sci-fi bandwagon and offering up some cool new shows, I think Saturadays are my only free night of the week that I'm not glued to the boob tube.

Currently nothing really on Sundays, but will be adding LEGEND OF THE SEEKER to the mix.

(Seriously - I think I can become frakking addicted to this - just watched the Making of special last night and I'm so drooling after watching the first 10 minutes - AMAZING FX, gorgeous costuming, gorgeous NZ, beautiful and haunting music...I'm so IN!)

Don't know what it is? First Syndicated fantasy TV show since Xena and Hercules, it's being produced by the guys who helmed those 2 series. More importantly the executive producer is Sam Rami ...yeah the Spiderman guy! The show is based on the best selling novels by Terry Goodkind - the Sword of Truth series.

If you liked Lord of the Rings but didn't buy Aragon/Arwen (or even if you did) and feel that fantasy should be all about love stories - this is the show for you. LOTS is nothing but one sweeping, HUGE love story and even better - it's HIGH fantasy, so no silly farcical stuff like in Xena/Hercules. Terry Goodkind is a creative consultant on the series. I got through about 1/2 of this series before I burnt out (need to reread them since I think he's finished w/ them all now.) But the books are every bit as original and imaginative as Tolkein's books. He's created his entirely own world, no Tolkein references, and most importantly the books are ADULT. The series appears to be really taking the spirit of the books. I soooo can't wait for it! Books have tons of gore and such and are appealing to men as well.

Did I mention that Craig Horner who's playing Richard Cypher is HOT! Pfwah! And Kahlan is one of the greatest female characters ever written. Warning - this show will be a nightmare for shippers. I think around book 5 I was screaming "just get them TOGETHER ALREADY!" Yeah, there's a reason why that wasn't happening, I won't spoil it for you. Ugh! I want this to start NOW!

November also has 24: REDEMPTION and CAPRICA coming. Now you see why I rarely bother going to the movies :)~
