This isn't directed at anyone in particular, but I'm about to let out a caged lion, if you're offended, I'm sorry don't take anything that I say personally.
A part of me understands being annoyed at your favorite show. Hell, I bashed the hell out of SV back 1/2 season 6-7 and was apathetic towards it season 8.
I just don't understand wanting to bash it NOW. I mean, dear god the show isn't anywhere as bad as most anything that came before season 9. Clois has been BEYOND awesome this year and other than most of Collateral I think this season has been consistently great. It seems that I'm a rare lone voice who loved LUTHOR, PATRIOT, and BEACON. Then again, I love Lionel. He always brought a wonderful air of sophistication to the series. And I LOVE his humor - it's witty and intelligent.
Without having Chloe on the series, they've been actually able to flesh out Tess this year and I've been thrilled. She finally feels like a real person/character. I love Tess so much that I could watch a whole show that just centered around her adventures. I hate what they did to Oliver this year. They turned him into Wimpass Clark 2.0. I miss my confidant, snarky Ollie.
I've realized that there are 3 series that I just adore - and I love them BECAUSE I'm not involved w/ any online fandoms for them. They were The X-Files and currently V & Supernatural.
We all go through feeling unhappy with our favorite shows. Some shows more then others. Sadly SV had some rough patches in it that made it one show that would leave a fan with some ill feelings.
I don't understand that either! The show IMO is the best then it's ever been. It's what I always wanted it to be. I wish it wasn't ending now but I wonder if half the reason it's so good if the end is near so it's given the show freedom to do things to couldn't before due drawing the story out and such like.
I really love Lionel. His return to the show is just fun. I think he brings a certain something to the show. Glover is a truely talented actor who works so wonderfully with the cast. Specially with Tom Welling. I think it's so good that he's back on the show for the last season.
I think Chloe out grew her time on the show. She was wonderful for a time. Then she was okay but after the Jimmy and Davis storyline I felt she didn't have a place on the show. It's like gave her Oliver because there was nothing else for her. I know many Chloe fans who will fight me tooth and nail on that but it's just how I feel and how it's feel every time I rewatch the show. Like you say I think other characters could have better used the screen time. I don't think pairing Chloe and Oliver together did any favorites for Oliver, actually going by season ten I say it did the opposite. But that's a whole other discussion. The show changed, and grew but sadly it out grew the use for Chloe. I was hoping for the day when Clark would outgrow the use for Clark (as hero). SV sometimes had a bad habit of putting too much importants on the wrong characters (Lana, Chloe) at the wrong times. Thankfully now the show is almost over they seem have gotten over it.
Personally I find it more enjoyable with just a small group of reasonable person I discuss, debate and fangirl with. I do with almost all my fandoms. I do go into the big online fourms once and while but all I do is get upset. It's always the same fighting.
