This is quite possibly the best LotS fanfic I've read thus far! (And, in all honesty, one of the better fanfics in general I've ever read.)
Richard and Kahlan seem to be very in-character, as according to the show. I can completely picture Craig and Bridget acting this scene out in an episode.
It captures their thoughts of inner turmoil well, Kahlan's being a torturous, forbidden longing for the only love she's ever known, and Richard's being a confused but powerful feeling of desire and protectiveness for Kahlan. That seems exactly like what's going on with them now, and what will be going on with them in the near future.
We're only left to speculate what could happen next...or what will happen once Richard finds the truth about Kahlan's powers...

Thank you for your lovely comments. I've written tons of fanfiction in the past - mostly for Star Wars and Smallville. Unfortunately because I run 1 massive fansite, 3 different forums, and contribute to 3 other news blogs, I don't have a lot of time to write fics anymore...not do all that AND make fanart.

I mostly wrote this when my fanart muse was taking a momentary vacation. However, who knows if another LOTS plot bunny bites, I may have to feed it :)
