Just icing on an otheriwse pretty cake that was rotten on the inside...

While I like Dollhouse, I suspect that in the long run its renewal for a second season was a bad thing for genre shows on network TV. Fox, who has a reputation for "killing" solid shows before they can find an audience, gave Dollhouse a second season in defiance of common wisdom. And it backfired for them. As a result, they're probably going to be reluctant to give the same special treatment to genre shows in the future--even shows that are more deserving than Dollhouse.
