Here is a quickie review of
sandramcdonald latest book entitled
The Stars Blue Yonder:
Brief background: I got hooked on this series from
The Outback Stars to
The Stars Down Under and have loved every minute of it.
Until The Stars Blue Yonder.
The Stars Blue Yonder stretches the bounds of reality a bit more than the other novels.
Mostly because Sandra wrote herself into a corner with the events of The Stars Down Under, I'll keep events out of this review due to spoilers.
Cerfice to say, it was a game changer and unfortunately leaves Stars Blue Yonder with something a dilemma: How to continue with the story with the events at the end of book two or how to out do yourself after Heath Ledger's Joker performance.
Well, the dice was rolled and came up with the old Sci-Fi adage of Time Travel which isn't so bad since the books have dealt with traveling from world to world why not time travel?
Well, here's the sticky wicket of it all: Time Travel in small doses in fine, Time Travel for sake bringing characters in from previous novels and then finding out that pulling characters out of time and letting the universe just replace them like nothing happened is just too clean.
All the characters introduced or re-introduced several time (s) are just as interesting as they were in the previous books and the background information on several locations just as 1900's Australia is detailed.
When the finale is reached it is good and like most of the book is quick, breezy (maybe too breezy?) and opens the door for a fourth novel.
Overall, the book is still a good read and the entire trilogy of books is worth your time.
