If qualilty of Fringe's pilot continues through out the season then I think Fox has the next X-Files.

The basic plot was shown in the trailer. FBI Agent and Mad Scientist track down even Madder Mad Scientists as they use the world as their petri dish.

Good stuff and worth watching, imho.
