Alright, to see who's still out there reading this mess, a question-

Which movies have just made you plain angry after seeing them?

By which, I mean- Which films have had you walking out of the theater a little pissed off, wondering how they got made? After seeing them on the Digital-Video-Disc, you took it out and just shook your head? You and a ( Read more... )

For me, Summer of Sam is A+ #1 with a bullet. That movie made me so incredibly angry.

Right?!?

I was expecting something much better, given it was Lee. It was this really nice day and my entire office in Ann Arbor decided to knock off early to see it at this little theater down the block. I was very surprisingly angry at how hamfisted and obvious the damn thing was.

These all come to mind:
  • 21 Grams
  • Fight Club
  • Russian Ark
Of the movies you listed, I've only seen Donnie Darko, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but mostly I was annoyed by how much my fellow viewers seemed love it.

With Donnie Darko, same here. Saw it with someone who thought it was one of the best films ever, which made it even worse, somehow.

I also disliked Scorsese's The Age of Innocence. The feather floating around at the end was too much for me. I know they use that in a million movies, but it always feels like, "Hey--look! A metaphor!"

Which reminds me, Eric Miller hated American Beauty for the plastic bag. Whenever I see a stray plastic bag, I always say to myself, "Oh look, the most beautiful thing in the world," and think of him, ranting about how much he hated that movie.

Oh, also "Austin Powers 2". I hate it when comedy sequels just do the same jokes again. So annoying.

I was with you for Love, Actually! We had to get drunk on whiskey at Knights after that one.

Donnie Darko is one for me, too.
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
That last Lord of the Rings movie
Almost every movie Mickie and I watch on "girl night" but especially The Wedding Date.

I disagree about Donnie Darko. saltdawg February 4 2011, 17:22:09 UTC
Man, I remember one hitch when I had managed to avoid "Love, actually" as the only DVD I hadn't watched on the ship for almost three months, including my tooth-grinding re-watching season #1 of "tour of duty" twice. In a row.

It takes a remarkable movie film to make someone that pissed off when they are that starved for something, anything new for their entertaInment.

Soon thereafter i was in China and got to buy first-run DVD's for a buck a piece. I still cherish my copy of Sweet and Lowdown.

Forrest Gump makes me pretty angry. I could go on, but for me, Forrest Gump is the exemplar.

Oh heck, that is a good one.

But that's also a good point- if a film makes you feel something strongly, that is almost better than indifference and forgetting the thing as soon as you hit the sidewalk outside the theater.

There are many examples of these types of movies, but I don't remember.
