On the move & Language chips

My weekend in Rome was largely successful. Even though it is small, I did manage to find the Vatican. I had a good wander around the Basilica but I did not get into the Vatican Museums as they were closed.

Monday I drove to my newest site - Candela. I am staying a short drive away in Foggia. Tuesday morning made for the worst hotel experience I have had in a year or two. no hot water. As I was mentioning to a friend just last week, the most important thing when it comes to a hotel room is a good shower in the morning.

I just received word that there is a high profile assignment in Switzerland, half way between Milano and Zurich that I am possibly headed to for the first two weeks of October. I am not sure how it will impact my Bilbao trip. I hope I can make it all work.

At my new site, our scope is a little larger. We have an office secretary this time. She is from Poland and speaks Polish (I assume), great English and Italian. When I heard her speaking French I did a double take and asked her "Combien de languages parlez-vous?". I still not figured out if she knows any German or Russian, I would not be surprised. What is it about Polish people and language skills? My Quebecois site lead has been in the country for 4 months and is speaking Italian fluently. I mentioned something about this to my boss and he made a comment about "coming with a language chip". I think he is quite right, the language chip seems to be a standard feature for Polish people. As opposed to Brits where not only is the language chip not a standard feature, it is simply not available. One of the fastest ways to impress me is to speak 3 or more languages. Bonus points if only one of the languages is a Romance language.
