...I want to get this oh-so-twisted idea in writing. Somewhere. So that when some weirdos actually freakin' do this thing, there is a record of me having said it first.

Because you have Klingon fanatics, and you have hard-core SCA types. And the Venn diagram with those two groups has a not-insignificant overlap. And because, of course, the Klingon culture must have had their own "dark ages", "Renaissance", etc.
