The roar

I'd attended college football games before, including several at Chapel Hill (so a vaguely major program), but yesterday we went to our first pro game, the Giants at the 49ers. I decided at the beginning of the season to start following football a lot more closely this year, and my teams being the 49ers and the Steelers (in that order) it's been a ( Read more... )

Oh, I had even noticed that the Steelers would be in town while I'm in SF, but I figured tickets to a game like that would be long long long long gone. If you don't have a Towel I can lend you one though ;)

I haven't been to a pro football game in about 25 years, but had been recently thinking it might be fun to go to one again.

Yeah, I think there were, like, ten tickets left for the 49ers/Steelers game when I was buying them six weeks ago. I couldn't get two together.

In contrast, yesterday they were still trying to sell out the Cardinals game for next week.

RJMccall - Just thought I'd say hello - A friend asked if this was my blog - I looked at it and was surprised, since i went to grad school at Chapel Hill, am also named RJMccall, am a Steeler fan and have ties to CMU (EE undergrad there). Anyway, I'm not a programmer, don't live in SF with Cat, and there are probably a lot of other non-coincidences, but thought the ones that did exist were worth mentioning!

Heh. Very strange!

My father and grandfather both went to UNC; my father still follows their teams religiously (though mostly basketball), and he dragged us to homecoming games pretty regularly when I was growing up. It's a beautiful campus, and he always hoped my brother or I would go and turn it into a family tradition, but it wasn't to be.

It's hard to live in Pittsburgh without becoming a Steelers fan. :)
