Animals Taiwan: That Is What You Call It

Feb 27, 2006 02:04

Today, I volunteered five hours for Animals Taiwan. The loosely-knit, yet effective, organization's aim is to promote the better treatment of animals here in Taiwan. I saw about seven or eight people, all more dedicated to the cause than I am, work their asses off for the benefit of stray dogs and cats ( Read more... )

Yeah, the way the Chinese treat animals was one of the things that mystified me when I was in Taiwan.

When I was in Hualien, there was this store near where I was staying (selling the usual assortment of Random Taiwanese Crap) that had these two beautiful greyhound puppies (or something similar, I'm not a dog guy, so just click this) in a tiny cage all day. The cage was inside a cardboard box, so they could only look up at you if you were directly next to it- and you, in turn, could look down and see how small, how cramped that space was. They had the most beautiful eyes and shiny coats. The owners would let them out once a day to eat, then stuff them back in- at night, they would curl up with each other ( ... )

I thought that this was the diggity dank. There's some good writing in your journal. I checked out Zeitgeist and kinda dug it. . . the three day novel idea wasn't a bad one. . . although my favorite pieces came from What Came Before. You had the right amount of exposition and description going in that one. . . but maybe I'm putting too much weight in your professed love of the Russian novel.

Jesus! I clicked back and noticed you haven't been updating that son of a bitch. . .

Shit, this comment I'm responding to, right here, is totally decent. . . man, keep writing!

If you wind up posting your new shit on Zeitgeist, I'll definitely follow it if the installments are manageable (two to three thousand words, say).

The Corporation looks promising, but I didn't raid the archives.

Anyway, keep with it.

And thanks again.

I'll probably go back to journaling at some point, but right now my life is just so full of Doing that the Expositioning gets lost in the shuffle. Which is just a really pretentious, judgemental way of saying I'm lazy and have no excuse. I mostly write stuff on Corpnews when I get the chance.
