Сейчас по емейлу разослали сообщение, что вокруг здания, где мы работаем, увивается кусачая змея, и ловить её никто не собирается, потому что "укус не смертелен". Очень обнадёживающе.
Вот такая:Whip Snakes (Demansia spp.)
The slender, fast-moving whip snakes are small, diurnal snakes widely distributed throughout most of mainland Australia, Torres Strait and southern New Guinea. There are eight species and five subspecies of whip snake and all will bite if handled or antagonised.

They range in adult size from 30 cm up to just over 1.5 metres in length. Little is known of the toxicity to humans of their venom, and most reported cases have involved mainly local symptoms. There is however one fatal record involving an identified Demansia vestigiata at Balimo in PNG, and there are reports of herpetologists suffering anaphylactic reactions after bites by Demansia spp. The majority of bites are trivial but these isolated cases suggest that whip snakes should be considered to be potentially dangerous.
