Welcome to V.2 of the knitted sonic screwdriver pattern. Since I've (finally!) acquired an actual plastic sonic screwdriver that I can use as a reference, I've been able to update the pattern to be more accurate to the actual item. I hope you're all happy with the results! :)

My sonic screwdriver was knitted on US size 4 double-pointed needles, with Red Heart super value yarn. It was stuffed with polyfill. I would suggest stuffing it as you knit it, because some of the narrower parts might make it difficult to do afterwards.

Whenever I started or ended each colour, I left a tail that was a few inches longer than the sonic screwdriver, and used a needle to pull the ends back through the opening at the black end.

k=knit p=purl    incr=increase    ktog=knit two together    ptog=purl two together

For some reason, I can't get this entry to format correctly in colour, so I've coded the yarn colors this way:  black yarn, beige yarn, gray yarn, blue/aqua yarn

Cast on 9 stitches, divide between 3 double-pointed needles

At the end, I cut off the blue yarn, leaving a tail a few inches longer than the sonic screwdriver itself. I threaded this yarn onto a needle, sewed it through the final three stitches, tied it, and then pulled the yarn back through the length of the screwdriver, all the way to the opening in the black end, and I tied it off there as well (see link). Then I braided all the remaining tails together (except for one black one), and stuffed them back inside the end. Using the final black tail, I sewed the opening closed, and wove in the last bit of the black tail.

Now get out there and knit some sonic screwdrivers! :D
