SIGNAL BOOST: Help a YA author, get a doll!

Aug 21, 2011 22:27

Through no fault of her own, my dear friend bnharrison, author of the as-yet-unsold but thoroughly brilliant YA novel FIND ME HERE (which some may remember me raving about on Twitter) has just found herself without a place to live for the time being.

With her characteristic wry humour, bnharrison is trying to make the best of the situation, remarking that it's one way of "expanding my understanding of the human experience, which is never to be sniffed at, if you’re an author." She is continuing to look for work in her field (which is working with autistic children) or any other opportunity that may come her way, and she's determined to stick it out in her current location because it really is where she feels she belongs. However, I'm sure you can imagine how scary and overwhelming it is to be without any place to live, even temporarily.

It's not in bnharrison's nature to take without giving, so she is offering to make thank-you dolls for anyone who cares to make a donation toward her living fund, as you can see in her public post here. If you haven't seen the delightful dolls that she's made for me in the past, here are some examples:

Snape and Luna as Christmas Ornaments

Knife, Linden and Rhosmari (from Knife, Rebel and Arrow respectively)

Alison and Faraday (from Ultraviolet)

You get the idea. She's a talented lady.

So if you know bnharrison, or even if you don't, please consider dropping by her journal entry and showing her a little support.

ETA: Crisis averted: bnharrison is moving into an apartment this weekend. Thanks to all who helped out!

friends, dolls, help
