I am so excited. I love this cover SO MUCH. (Brian Froud! Drew my character just for this book! Eeeeee!) So without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to Linden, the heroine of Rebel (a.k.a. Wayfarer in the US):

'If we die, we die. But we will not surrender the Oak to you without a fight.' )

That's a wonderful cover!

You know, the illustration would also make a great poster ad...

Eeeeeee!

If I recall correctly, you said that the cover of Knife was something that Brian Froud already had available, that you were lucky to get. So it is nifty-keen that he agreed to especially do the cover of the next book - though it makes sense from a publishing perspective to get the same artist to do all the covers in the same series.

Eeeeeee!

Linden is an interesting contrast to Knife; Knife is silver, Linden is gold.

May I ask why the UK title is "Rebel" and the US title is "Wayfarer"? I actually prefer Wayfarer, myself.

Oh, and I notice that the cover says "The thrilling sequel to the bestselling Knife" - is Knife really a bestseller? Cool!

WAYFARER was my original title, the UK wanted something punchier that went better with KNIFE. So for my first book the UK kept my original title and the US changed it, whereas for my second book the US is keeping my title and the UK is changing it. Such is publishing.

And apparently KNIFE is indeed a bestseller in the UK! I have no idea how these things are decided/measured, but the book's already in its fifth printing since January, so that seems like a very good sign.

And I forgot to mention that the cover for REBEL will have the same iridescent finish as the one for KNIFE. Shiny! Shiny faeries! Mwa ha ha ha ha ha!

(One day I will be a Dignified Professional Author, but apparently this is not that day.)

I believe the plan is to release both books a year after the first, so that would make the UK release January 2010 and the US/Canadian release May 2010...

Man, publishing time is slow!

It was much easier when I was still catching up on what authors I liked had published 20 years previous...knowing from the PM announcement what's coming makes for impatience...
