Revenge of the Armchair Critic

Just a couple of quick thoughts on tonight's TV before I head off to bed:

1. Clay was awful. I still want him to win, I still like to think he's got a good chance of winning, but I don't know if I can ever forgive him for mangling "Vincent" the way he did. If ever there was a song that highlighted every possible flaw in Clay's performance style, that was it. And I like that song. Gah. Bad Clay! No biscuit. And Simon was right about that arrangement of "Unchained Melody" being horrible -- I think Clay did the best that could be hoped for under the circumstances, but man, were they trying to make him lose?

2. Best song of the evening IMO: Ruben's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered". I'm not really a bit Ruben fan, but I thought he did a great job of it, and it was good to hear him doing something different for a change. Unfortunately, his next two songs were progressively weaker. The third one was really rough and "pitchy" -- I was surprised nobody commented on that.

3. Kimberly is indeed much improved, but she needs to work on her openings. They always sound weak and breathy, as though it takes her a few bars to get her voice going. I'm not sure she's going to be back next week, though given Clay's abysmal performance this week, I guess anything's possible.

And now on to 24...

What. WAS. THAT?!?!? How on EARTH are they going to wrap all this up in just one more hour?!? All the good guys with any clout, except Jack of course, are under lock and key; all the evidence is toast; Jack's having a major heart attack; and am I completely bonzo or is Kate Warner looking kind of EVIL just now?

*whimpers* I want to go home, mummy.
