Hey, that's great! I loved Sfumato. Just a lovely, conflicted portrayal of Irina. I must admit, Jack/Irina is my 'guilty pleasure' ship. I know it's going to go down in flames, and yet...
Anyway, congrats again!
Hope to see you writing this pairing again sometime.

Thank you! I feel the same way about Jack/Irina, though I'm a bit more of an optimist. I don't foresee a storybook ending for those two, but I do think JJ has big plans for them, plans that would be spoiled if Irina were suddenly turned into a two-dimensional villainness (or an unequivocal heroine, for that matter).
I'm sure I'll be writing them again. They're just too intriguing to leave alone.

I hope you're right. I don't want a 'storybook ending' either. It wouldn't be in keeping with the characters. I /would/ love it if JJ and Co. left Irina in the grey area...I don't know if that's going to happen, though--being as Lena Olin is only contracted for 16 episodes. And IMHO, they haven't even /started/ on the whole mess that is Jack and Irina. It's going to take a lot more than 16 eps to unsnare even a portion of that plotline...

Mind you, we can't actually draw any conclusions from the fact that LO is only contracted for 16 episodes. For instance, there may well be a number of episodes in the middle of the season for which her presence is not required (we've already had a couple eps without her as it is -- and one in which only her body double was shown). After all, not everything can be about SpyMommy. Sometimes there are bound to be missions and situations in Sydney's life that don't connect to Irina. So, although you might be right that Mama Hari is fated to go AWOL, we really can't say for sure yet until the storyline tells us so.
By his own admission, JJ Abrams spent the whole first season chafing at the bit to get to Irina. So for me, that makes it difficult to imagine he's planning to toss her character out the window after only 16 episodes. But who knows -- every time I think I've figured out how JJ thinks, he throws another curve ball at me. Which is one of the many reasons why I <3 this show...

Take heart - from what I understand there will be a period of at least one or two eps coming up where Irina will be elsewhere. I don't want to give out spoilers unless anyone wants to be spoiled, but it's not necessarily a bad elsewhere. It's less fun when Spymom isn't around, but I'd rather have her missing now than later when it might mean catastrophes have happened. Does that make any sense?
